Krirk-krai attends Apec meeting

Commerce Minister Krirk-krai Jirapaet will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec)'s trade ministers meeting in Sydney during September 5-6, where all members expect to push for the completion of the Doha Round trade talk within this year.

Joining the meeting is Pascal Lamy, World Trade Organisation's director-general, according to Vinitchai Chaemchaeng, deputy director-general of the Trade Negotiations Department.

"This follows the failure in reaching a commitment during the G4 meeting in June, where members (the US, the UK, India and Brazil) showed different views particularly on market open-up, agricultural crop subsidies and reduction of tariffs on industrial goods," he said.

The participating Apec ministers will also review the regional economic integration report and consider the trade facilitation action plan 2 which aims at cutting intra-trade cost by another 5 per cent within 2010.
